Dead Island 2 Sales Surpasses 2 Million Units Worldwide
By Ali'sha Harris|May 25, 2023|0 Comment
Embracer Group, the parent company of publisher Deep Silver has announced in its latest interim financial report that Dead Island 2 has sold over two million units. The holding company reported its most recent financial results for Q4 of its current fiscal year (January 2023 to March 2023) in which it showed strong initial sales for developer Dambuster Studios’ long-awaited sequel to Dead Island.
Last month, one million copies were sold in three days after the sequel launched for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Epic Games Store on 21 April 2023.
Lars Wingefors, Embracer Group co-founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), said:
“I am happy to state that the game has now reached a sell-out of well over two million units. It is rewarding to see that the decision to give [Dambuster Studios] time to polish the game has paid off.”
This achievement has become Deep Silver and PLAION’s biggest launch ever in terms of both units and revenue – quite an accomplishment considering how long the game’s development had been hanging in the balance. Fortunately, the latest Dead Island entry received an overall positive response, and in our review, we praised the game’s design, satisfying combat, and characters.
