Malaysia’s Lemon Sky Worked On Arkane’s Redfall Over The Past 4 Years

Malaysia’s Lemon Sky Studios (Lemon Sky), commemorated the release of Redfall to mark the amazing 4-year creative partnership with Arkane Austin.
This would be the first time both studios have worked together and the results are some of the phenomenal art presented in Redfall which made its debut to gamers around the world today. Lemon Sky was previously involved in several projects with major game developers/publishers in the past. These include Hi-Fi Rush, Bluepoint Games’ Demon’s Souls, Square Enix’s Marvel’s Avengers, Naughty Dog’s The Last Of Us Part II, Capcom’s Resident Evil 3 Remake, Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII Remake and Insomniac Games’ Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart.
The project that started before the pandemic hit, came with its own set of challenges both from an artistic point of view as well as a logistics point of view. Lemon Sky was tasked with creating a number of character interactive props, assets and environment art for the game. Seeing as this would be the first time the 2 studios are working together, a strong pipeline and clear line of communication needed to be established in order to see through the project that had been impeded by the pandemic.
Eng Tzy Ling, Studio Manager at Lemon Sky North, said:
“As this would be the first time we were working with Arkane Austin, we were very keen on ensuring that the transition into remote working mode was carried out as smoothly as possible. Arkane Austin were great partners, supporting us in every way possible throughout the process,”
The art style that Arkane Austin wanted for their assets was also a unique one that excited the team.
Ken Foong, Chief Creative Officer & Chief Operations Officer at Lemon Sky Studios, said:
“Balancing the realistic feel with stylised aesthetics was an intriguing venture for us. It opened up a learning opportunity for us especially for our artists working on texturing to achieve the iconic Redfall look. We were definitely inspired by Arkane’s vision and we are extremely proud of the final outcome. We look forward to working with them again in the future,”
Cheng-Fei Wong, Chief Executive Officer of Lemon Sky Studios, said:
“We want to congratulate Arkane Austin on the release of Redfall. Having worked with them over the past 4 years, we understand the intricate details they looked into to ensure gamers have an amazing gaming experience with Redfall. We also thank them for trusting us to execute their vision for Redfall while working with us on establishing an effective workflow throughout,”
Redfall was released on 2 May 2023 on PC and the Xbox Series X/S.
