Twitch Streamer Accuses Platform Of Banning Her For Being ‘Black & Curvy’

So there’s been some drama in the streaming world recently. Streamer ExoHydraX is claiming that Twitch banned her because of her race and body shape. Apparently, she got suspended on May 19, just a few days after Twitch lifted a ban on another streamer named Mira.

ExoHydraX started out on YouTube but eventually made her way to Twitch, hoping to reach a bigger audience with non-gaming content. But her relationship with the platform has been rocky, to say the least. She’s had a number of suspensions over the years, including one permanent ban that was later reversed by Twitch.

Last week, ExoHydraX took to Twitter to let her followers know that she had been hit with another permanent ban from Twitch. According to her, the reason given was that she violated the platform’s guidelines on suggestive content. But she’s calling BS on that, saying she followed the rules and her stream wasn’t controversial at all. In fact, she claims she wasn’t even doing a hot tub stream and was fully dressed the whole time.

So why does ExoHydraX think she was banned? Well, she believes it’s because of her skin colour and body type. In a tweet, she said that streaming on Twitch is pointless for people who are black and curvy. Some of her fans agreed and suggested she move to another platform called Kick, which has been gaining popularity among streamers lately. At the time of her ban, ExoHydraX had over 264,000 followers on Twitch.

Twitch, being the big company that it is, isn’t likely to comment on individual bans, so we probably won’t hear their side of the story. But this isn’t the first time Twitch has faced accusations of racism. ExoHydraX was previously banned for a hot tub stream in 2021, and some fans were upset that white streamers like Amouranth face little consequences for similar content. According to StreamerBans, Twitch has banned Amouranth six times since 2019, but each ban only lasted a few days.

It’s a messy situation, and it remains to be seen how it will play out. For now, ExoHydraX is without a platform, and her fans are left wondering if there’s a double standard at play in the streaming world.
