Xbox Lawyer Claims The Elder Scrolls 6 Is Coming In 2026
By Alleef AshaariVerified|June 30, 2023|0 Comment
The trial between Xbox/Activision and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) continues. A lawyer representing Microsoft/Xbox made a statement in court that The Elder Scrolls 6 will launch in 2026, but only after accidentally referring to it as “The Elder Scrolls 16”.
As transcribed by The Verge, the lawyer said:
“There are two Elder Scrolls games, one is online called Elder Scrolls Online—that is a multiplayer game, it is on PlayStation today. [The FTC’s lawyer is] talking about Elder Scrolls 16, that is projected for release in 2026 as a singleplayer game.”
What’s funny is that this contradicts an earlier statement made by Xbox head Phil Spencer himself just last week. Spencer stated in court that The Elder Scrolls 6 is still more than five years away, which implies that the game would only be released in 2028 at the earliest.
In other related news to come out of the Xbox FTC trial, it was revealed that the upcoming Bethesda MachineGames Indiana Jones game will be an Xbox exclusive and that Starfield was originally planned for the PS5 before Microsoft purchased Bethesda. Microsoft also expects that the next-gen consoles will arrive in 2028.
If The Elder Scrolls 6 really is more than five years away, it’s no wonder that Bethesda hasn’t revealed anything new about the game. It’s simply too early in development, and they would want to focus on Starfield first, which launches later this year in September 2023.
