Shrek Returns To Consoles After 12 Years With DreamWorks’ New Kart Racer Game

DreamWorks has announced a new kart racer game, All-Star Kart Racing, featuring characters from DreamWorks movies. It will be published by GameMill Entertainment and developed by Bamtang Games, both of whom worked on the Nickelodeon Kart Racers series.

The game will include over 20 playable characters from DreamWorks’ library such as Shrek, KungFu Panda, Puss in Boots, The Boss Baby, Madagascar, The Bad Guys, How to Train Your Dragon, Trolls, and more. Moreover, All-Star Kart Racing offers tracks set in locations from various IPs, such as the Kingdom of Far Far Away from Shrek, Bergen Town from Trolls, Spirit Realm from Kung Fu Panda, Baby Corp from The Boss Baby, and New York City Zoo from Madagascar. The Trolls character will be hosting each race, and racers can collect Trolls to ride together in improving the kart abilities.

Despite the variety of DreamWorks characters appearing in the game, fans of Shrek will be absolutely thrilled, since the swamp-dweller hasn’t graced a console game for over a decade. It was in 2011 that Shrek made his last appearances in video games, in Puss in Boots (released on Xbox 360, Wii, and PS3), and in Activision’s DreamWorks Super Star Kartz.

There will be two versions of DreamWorks All-Star Kart Racing, a standard edition for $39.99 / £39.99 / RM182.89 and a digital edition for $49.99 / £44.99 / RM228.63. The digital edition comes with two exclusive karts and two exclusive characters, Master Oogway from Kung Fu Panda and Wolf from Puss in Boots.

Although no specific release date has been specific yet, All-Star Kart Racing is confirmed to launch for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
