Microsoft just announced that the existing Xbox Live Gold will be replaced by Xbox Game Pass Core, an “evolution” and replacement of the popular gaming subscription service. Xbox Game Pass Core offers players to select a collection of over 25 games, access to online console multiplayer, and exclusive member deals and discounts. The new subscription tier will be priced at $9.99 per month or $59.99 annually.
According to the official Xbox blog post, Game Pass Core “brings online play together with Game Pass in a new offering for gamers around the world.” With the end of the “Xbox Live” era, Xbox took the opportunity to re-imagining ways to include content for the newly introduced subscription. And that was leveraging selected titles from the Game Pass catalogue. Selected titles from Xbox Game Studios, Bethesda, and others will be playable on the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles. Subsequent games will be added 2-3 times per year.
Some of the heavy hitters for the launch collection are:
For the existing Xbox Live Gold subscribers, the Game Pass Core membership will be automatically granted, at no additional cost, and they will have access to over 25 high-quality games immediately. Additionally, if a player is a Game Pass Core or Game Pass Ultimate member, they can still access any Xbox One games they previously redeemed through Games with Gold. No matter the subscription status, those who redeemed any Xbox 360 titles through Games with Gold will remain in the player’s library. Games with Gold will seize to end on 1 September.
Xbox Game Pass Core will be available on 14 September 2023.
