Baldur’s Gate 3 To Add New Ending Epilogues In Future Updates

Larian Studios has confirmed that future updates will fix one of the biggest weaknesses of Baldur’s Gate 3, which is its ending epilogue (or the lack of it). Future updates will add more proper epilogues for the game’s ending and the first character to receive this honour will be fan-favourite Karlach.
In a new blog post on Steam, the developer stated:
The second is about the epilogue. What’s been datamined is not really cut content but content that we didn’t want to release because we didn’t think it worked. We’re pretty strict with ourselves and our ideas. If it isn’t good – if it isn’t fun to play – it doesn’t make it into the game. One of the reasons why we trimmed the epilogue is because we were afraid the ending cinematics were becoming too long and would detract from the epicness of the experience. But clearly, not everyone agrees with us! So we’re going to do something about it.
We’ve started expanding the epilogues and you’ll see the first results of that in Patch 2 with the addition of a new optional ending with Karlach. It’s fiery, poignant, and gives her the ending she deserves.
The developer also confirmed that they will add the ability to change your character’s appearance in a future update:
Withers’ Wardrobe of Wayward Friends – which we hope to launch very soon – is an example of us integrating your feedback. This feature allows you to get rid of co-op party members who join your campaign, so you can continue on without them. We’re also working on the ability to change your characters’ look once you’ve started a campaign, though we don’t have a release date for that yet. There will be more and you can expect us to come with modding support at some point too.
The first major update for Baldur’s Gate 3 last week had over 1000 bug fixes and improvements in the new Baldur’s Gate 3 update. One of the new improvements is that the developer has improved kissing contact for shorter characters like players who have chosen to play as dwarves or halflings.
They also revealed that the most popular class choice is currently Paladin, followed by Sorcerer, while the award for the least popular class goes to Cleric. Human and Elf characters reign supreme in Faerûn, followed swiftly and unsurprisingly by Half-Elf. On the opposite end of the spectrum, we find Dwarf, Gnome, Githyanki, and Halfling.
Baldur’s Gate 3 launched for PC and Mac via Steam and GOG on 3 August 2023 and is slated for PS5 on 6 September 2023. An Xbox Series X/S version will arrive sometime later in 2023.
In the meantime, check out my review of Baldur’s Gate 3 after more than 100 hours of playtime (at the time of writing).
