Genshin Impact 4.0 Update Finally Brings Us To Fontaine

It’s that time of year again when developer HoyoVerse unveils what they have in store for us with the 4.0 update dubbed  “As Light Rain Falls Without Reason”. Slated to launch on 16 August, update 4.0 will bring players to the fifth nation of Teyvat, the French-inspired land of Fontaine, the Nation of Hydro where the idea of Justice reigns throughout.

Fontaine stands as a vibrant nexus of culture, art, and technology, poised to embrace an array of captivating new offerings: thrilling adventures, innovative gameplay modes, immersive narratives, and the unveiling of its initial trio of playable characters. Beyond the bustling cityscape that graces the exterior, players shall also be bestowed with the unique prospect of embarking on an unprecedented subaqueous journey—an inaugural experience within the game’s realm.

The Nation of Hydro

Now the Hydro Elemental is nothing new to Genshin, having been in the game since launch. So without a new element as this patch’s key feature, the dev team over at HoyoVerse had to do something new. And that’s the new underwater exploration feature.

In certain spots around the island nation, like when you’re diving underwater, you won’t have to stress about your breath running out, all thanks to this cool blessing you’ve got. Instead of worrying about oxygen, you’ll use up your Aquatic Stamina when you’re in a hurry. You can grab these things called “Recovery Orbs” to top up your stamina, or you can cruise faster by swimming through these nifty “Turbulent Bubbles.” When it’s time for some underwater showdowns, you’ll be throwing down with different moves. Plus, you can even soak up powers from special water critters to stay on the defensive, escape tricky situations, and score some of those hidden treasures trapped in seaweed.

New Characters

The game’s first trio of gacha characters for version 4.0 are the twins Lyney and Lynette as well as their younger brother, Freminet. Weirdly enough, all three of them are different elemental users with Lyney being a Pyro archer, Lynette being an Anemo Sword user, and Freminet being a Cyro Claymore user.

Phase 1’s Event Wish will feature Lynette (4-star), Lyney (5-star), and Yelan (5-star). Phase 2’s Event Wish will be featuring Freminet (4-star), Zhongli (5-star), and Tartaglia (5-star).

The full list of Fontaine characters is below:

  • Lyney
  • Lynette
  • Freminet
  • Navia
  • Clorinde
  • Neuvillette
  • Furina
  • Charlotte

New Bosses

There’s some cool stuff waiting for you in Fontaine, including new bosses to take on. The first boss you’ll face is called “Icewind Suite,” and it’s a total masterpiece of Fontaine’s clockwork tech and art scene. This boss is like a pair of dancing clockwork mekas – real showstoppers!

You’ll have a choice between two themes when you go up against this dynamic duo. They’ll put on a crazy battle with Cryo attacks that are all about figure skating flair and killer dance moves. It’s like they’re dancing on thin ice while kicking out some serious frosty moves.

There’s another boss lurking in an underwater cave, the “Emperor of Fire and Iron,” a seriously tough Armored Crablord. This dude’s not just tough on the outside – it’s got the defence skills of a hardcore iron crab. And just to spice things up, it can dish out some seriously fiery Pyro attacks from its guts.

Free Primogem Codes

And of course, here are free Genshin Impact primogem codes from the livestream. These codes are valid until 14th August 8pm GMT+8.
