The third episode of Ahsoka Season 1 is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar Malaysia. I’ll be discussing heavy spoilers so if you haven’t seen it or want to avoid spoilers, now’s your chance to stop reading.

Set after the fall of the Empire, “Star Wars: Ahsoka” follows the former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.
In addition to Rosario Dawson in the title role, “Ahsoka” stars Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, David Tennant as Huyang, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn and Eman Esfandi appearing as Ezra Bridger.
The series is written by Dave Filoni, who executive produces alongside Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, and Carrie Beck. Karen Gilchrist is the co-executive producer.

Last year, we were given the opportunity to interview none other than the former Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker and current Dark Lord Of The Sith Darth Vader; Hayden Christensen himself.
Ahsoka is continuing Sabine’s training as a Jedi and gives her a ‘visor’ that blocks her vision in order to train her other senses.
Back during the Prequel Era of Star Wars, Jedi younglings used to train with these helmets to block their vision and train them to use the Force rather than their sight alone.
You can see them in this clip from Star Wars Episode II Attack Of The Clones:
This is notable as her appearance in Ahsoka is actually Mon’s Monthma’s first appearance as Chancellor of the New Republic in live-action Star Wars post-Star Wars Episode VI Return Of The Jedi.
All previous canon live-action appearances have always chronologically been when she was still a Senator during the Galactic Civil War pre-Star Wars VI Return Of The Jedi.
Genevieve O’Reilly reprises her role as Mon Mothma (we last saw her as Mon Mothma in Andor Season 1).
Star Wars Resistance was the last official canon Star Wars animated series and is still the only one set in the New Republic era post-Star Wars Episode VI Return Of The Jedi.
This is Senator Hamato Xiono, who was in Star Wars Resistance as the father of the series protagonist Kazuda Xiono. This is his first live-action appearance, portrayed by actor Nelson Lee.
If you haven’t watched the Star Wars Rebels animated series, you won’t know that this is Jacen Syndulla. He’s the son of Hera Syndulla and Kanan Jarrus. Kanan Jarrus is a Jedi survivor of Order 66 and he was a part of the original Ghost crew in Star Wars Rebels.
Yes, Jacen Syndulla’s name is inspired by Jacen Solo of Star Wars Legends continuity (which is no longer canon).
Jacen previously only appeared in the final episode of Star Wars Rebels Season 4, so this is his first live-action appearance.
The Purgill first appeared in Star Wars Rebels and they were responsible for bringing Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn to another galaxy at the end of Star Wars Rebels.
They are a species of space whales that live in deep space, travelling from star system to star system. Despite being organic creatures, they can travel through hyperspace by creating simu-tunnels. The natural ability of the Purrgil inspired sentients to develop hyperdrive technology and wayfinders that were used for hyperspace navigation.
According to Huyang in this episode of Ahsoka, the Eye Of Sion is a hyperspace ring that follows the hyperspace paths of Purrgil.
That’s all for this week, folks.
Until next week, excelsior and may the Force be with you! It looks like we’re getting a lot of lightsaber action next week, since Baylan Skoll and the others are hunting down Ahsoka and Sabine.
