Starfield: How To Change FOV
By Lewis LarcombeVerified|September 1, 2023|0 Comment
Starfield doesn’t come with an official FOV slider but don’t worry, you can still tweak it to your liking. Let’s dive into how you can adjust your FOV in Starfield on PC.
So, if you’re exploring the Starfield universe right now, you might be scratching your head because there’s no FOV slider option in sight. Unfortunately, Starfield doesn’t give you the luxury of adjusting that field of view on any platform. For some folks, this might not be a biggie, but if you’re used to a specific FOV angle, it can be a bit frustrating. Lucky for you, there’s a workaround that involves poking around in your game files.
Quick heads-up: this trick is exclusive to PC players for now. Sorry, console adventurers, there’s no known way to tinker with your FOV at the moment. So, let’s get into the nitty-gritty of how you can change your FOV in Starfield on PC.
To get started, you’ll need to dive into your game folder, which typically resides in Documents/MyGame/Starfield, or wherever you’ve stashed your game files.
Once you’re in there, it’s time to create a text file in that game folder. Name it “StarfieldCustom.ini” and make sure it’s saved as a .ini file, or else it won’t work.
Now, open up that text file, and you’re going to paste in some magic words. Here they are:
[Camera]fFPWorldFOV=100.0000
fTPWorldFOV=100.0000
Save the file, and voila! Your first-person and third-person FOV should now be set at 100. If you want to mess with it some more, just change those numbers. Lower values mean a narrower FOV, while higher values mean a wider FOV.
Feeling unsure about creating your own .ini file? No worries! A kind modder over at NexusMods has crafted one for you to use.
As of now, this sneaky workaround is the only known method for adjusting your FOV in Starfield on PC. But don’t fret, if a modder comes up with a smoother solution, or if Bethesda decides to officially add an FOV slider, we’ll be here to update you with all the juicy details.
