Ubisoft’s Skull And Bones Isn’t Coming Out Anytime Soon Thanks To A New Release Window
Ubisoft’s upcoming pirate game has another release window it seems, putting the game still in its development phase further.
According to Ubisoft’s latest earnings day report for the first half of its fiscal year ending in September, Skull and Bones will be launching sometime between January and March of 2024. To keep you up to speed, the game was announced back at E3 2017, with a release window set for fall 2018. We did manage to play the game back in 2018; it was fine for a preview build. Of course, the game was delayed numerous times since then -six times to be precise- with next January-ish being the latest release window.
The last we heard about Skull and Bones, Ubisoft hosted a closed beta for the game around August this year; it wasn’t very good. Perhaps the delay could be a sign that the game needed more fixing, but at this point in time I won’t be surprised if the supposed spin-off of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag ended up being another punchline in the games industry. Heck, it’ll be even crazy if the supposed AC4: Black Flag remake project ends up coming out before Skull and Bones. We’re also curious if the Singapore government (MDA to be precise) has worked in another deal with Ubisoft as a whole to keep funding for the project, and keeping Ubisoft Singapore afloat seeing as the previous grant and deal most likely expired.
In related news, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown will still be coming out in December 2023 and January 2024 respectively. For more on Ubisoft, check out the company’s latest Netflix animated venture called Captain Laserhawk; it’s a madcap ride for sure.
