Long-Running Comedy Review Video Series Zero Punctuation Ends After 16 Years
All good things must come to an end, especially if you’re content creators running the famous video review series Zero Punctuation, where a fast-talking British critic chastises the game he’s reviewing in a blaze of glory and uses funny comic images of his crafting.
Just recently on Twitter, Zero Punctuation video series creator and voice-over Ben “Yahtzee” Croshaw announced that he has resigned from game news publication The Escapist and its owners Gamurs. He stated that he doesn’t have the rights to Zero Punctuation, but will be doing work outside of the companies soon in a new space.
Today, I formally resigned from The Escapist and Gamurs. I don't have the rights to Zero Punctuation, but whatever happens you'll be hearing my voice again soon, in a new place. Join this discord for updates in the coming days: https://t.co/Kdmb5biPDN

In addition, The Escapist’s Editor In Chief Nick Calandra was also fired around the same period this news came up, with many of his writers following suit.
I was fired from The Escapist today.
I have declined my severance pay and will not be signing an NDA.
I'm incredibly proud of everything my team and I achieved over the last four years, and the community that we built together.
Figuring out next steps now and moving forward.

So Zero Punctuation is basically done and over with following these sad events. You can find out more about what Croshaw and Calandra are doing by following the recently-created Discord server aptly called Escaped The Escapist.
Many other online folks have expressed their support for Yahtzee and Calandra’s new venture, going so far as to say that The Escapist is basically f**** without their leads running the breadwinner reviews series.

Yahtzee’s relationship to The Escapist is the epitome of “you need me more than I need you.”
That site just scored the biggest own-goal in games media by losing him, and by all accounts they deserve the L.
Good luck, Yahtzee, not that you’ll need it. ? https://t.co/JKYLz0GPDY

Zero Punctuation is coming to an end after 16 years – with its creator and many staff resigning after The Escapist management fired its editor-in-chief.
We have just witnessed a company obsessed with targets burn itself to the ground out of greed. https://t.co/LkW7FaywSt pic.twitter.com/OllZ8pxjDW

If anyone isn’t seeing the tweets, The Escapist has exploded this eve with mass resignations following the apparent firing of their EIC. Will be interested to see what happens with Nick and his team next. https://t.co/Tadtux4AaG

Well there goes The Escapist.
Best of luck everyone.
You have our sword. https://t.co/7J2U6NlbGk

This is what happens when companies get way too obsessed with targets; creativity gets strained and the good ones go down quick. In the meantime, you can tune in to the last Zero Punctuation episode below.
