MLBB M5 Wild Card: Day 1 – Triumphs, Surprises & BEBEX’s Brilliance
By Lewis LarcombeVerified|November 24, 2023|0 Comment
M5 Wild Card made history on Day 1 with an impressive display of strength, charm, and determination. The inaugural event featured eight international teams, and Malaysia’s Team SMG lived up to their fan-favourite status by securing a win against Niightmare Esports in a thrilling first match.
Despite a strong start by Team SMG, Niightmare Esports fought back in the second game, showcasing the skills that made them M Challenge Cup Mekong Season 2 champions. However, Team SMG ultimately prevailed in a tense third game.
In the second match, KeepBest Gaming from China made their MLBB Esports debut, winning over local fans with gift bags. Despite their charm offensive, they couldn’t overcome Imperio Esports, the LIGA LATAM 2023 second runner-up, and lost 2-0.
The third match introduced Nepal’s 4Merical Esports and Saudi Arabia’s Team Falcons to the M5 Wild Card stage. Despite 4Merical Esports’ previous success in MLBB Esports tournaments, they were defeated 2-0 by Team Falcons, who continued their winning streak from the MPL Malaysia Season 11 trophy.
The day concluded with a comeback victory as Team Lilgun secured a 2-1 win over Umbrella Squad. While Umbrella Squad took the first game, Team Lilgun demonstrated composure to reverse sweep the MLBB Continental Championships Season 2 champions. A crucial draft mistake in the penultimate game contributed to Umbrella Squad’s defeat. However, credit was given to Team Lilgun’s BEBEX for his exceptional use of Beatrix and Ixia, earning him the M5 Star of the Day.
