The highly anticipated anime adaptation of Akira Toriyama’s Sand Land will be making its way onto Disney+ Hotstar in Spring 2024.
In this gripping adventure, viewers are transported to a world grappling with the scarcity of water, tightly controlled by a power-hungry king. Sheriff Rao fed up with the oppressive regime, seeks aid from Sand Land’s demons, embarking on a quest to uncover the elusive “Legendary Spring.”
Building on the success of the 2023 Sand Land movie, this series expands the cinematic universe, weaving fresh tales around beloved characters like Fiend Prince Beelzebub, Sheriff Rao, and the crafty Thief. Drawing inspiration from Akira Toriyama’s popular short story, the creative forces behind Dragon Ball and Dr. Slump, Sand Land: The Series is a collaborative effort between Bandai Namco Filmworks, otherwise known as Sunrise, known for Mobile Suit Gundam and Love Live! Series; Kamikaze Douga, recognized for Pop Team Epic and the iconic title sequence of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure; and ANIMA, renowned for high-quality 3DCG animation.
Featuring a stellar voice cast including Mutsumi Tamura as Fiend Prince Beelzebub, Kazuhiro Yamaji as Rao, Ch? as the Thief, Satoshi Tsuruoka as General Are, and Nobuo Tobita as Supreme Commander Zeu, Sand Land: The Series is helmed by director Toshihisa Yokoshima, with screen adaptation by Hayashi Mori from Akira Toriyama’s original graphic novel.
Anime enthusiasts can join Disney+ Hotstar today to access an ever-expanding library of must-watch content, including Phoenix: Eden17, Tokyo Revengers: Christmas Showdown Arc, Tokyo Revengers: Tenjiku Arc, Tengoku Daimakyo, and much more.
