Sega Targets 5 Million Sales For Next Mothership Persona Game
Sega has published an investor Q&A for the Q2 financial results for the fiscal year ending in March 2024. If you love the Persona JRPGs from Atlus, you may want to pay attention to this.
When asked about the future sales potential of Atlus’ Shin Megami Tensei Persona series, Sega said that the company would be able to sell 5 million copies in a new entry’s first year. However, the game needs to be released on multiple platforms.
By increasing the number of platforms it is available on and the regions it is released in, we have been increasing the sales of Persona 5. We believe that it would be possible for a major Persona title, such as a numbered release, to sell 5 million copies in its first year by releasing it on multiple platforms and simultaneously worldwide from day one.
Sega also said it has high expectations for the new JRPG Metaphor: ReFantazio, which is by the same team that made Persona 5. Speaking of which, the Persona 5 series has sold over 9 million copies worldwide, including the spin-offs.
At the very least, the future is looking prim and proper with the Persona games, as Sega won’t be letting the series rest for a bit. Persona 3 Reload is slated for release on 2nd February, 2024 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
