The Marvels Final Trailer Confirms One Hero Cameo & Teases More
By Alleef Ashaari|November 7, 2023|0 Comment
Marvel Studios has released a final trailer for The Marvels. It confirms one Avenger cameo and teases other cameos, as well as teases how The Marvels will be connected to Avengers Secret Wars and finally kick off this new Multiverse Saga.
That’s Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie in The Marvels:
Nick Fury says, “They’re here.” Who are they, and who is this?
Is that a Captain Marvel variant?
In the teaser, we can hear Monica Rambeau AKA Photon/Spectrum saying:
“There’s a different reality bleeding into ours.”
That sounds like an Incursion event happening, which was a prelude to the 2015 Secret Wars event in the comics. Incursions were first mentioned by name back in 2022’s Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness.
During the post-credits scene in that movie, Clea (played by Charlize Theron) appeared and warned Doctor Strange that his actions (by using the Dream-Walking spell from the Darkhold) have triggered an Incursion, before both of them enters a portal into what seems to be the Dark Dimension (Dormammu’s realm).
What is an Incursion? An Incursion is when two worlds from two different universe collide, destroying both universes in the process. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), it seems that an Incursion is triggered when someone uses spells from the Darkhold. However, not much is explained about the Incursions.
In the comics, the concept of Incursions began in Jonathan Hickman’s New Avengers and Avengers runs (the Time Runs Out story arc), which led to the 2015 crossover event, Secret Wars. In the comics, there’s a way to stop Incursions, if one of the earths is destroyed, then its universe also dies, but the other earth and its universe survives. If not, then both earths and their respective universes will die. Ultimately, the heroes failed to stop the incursions. Even the Infinity Gauntlet powered by the Infinity Gems/Stones could only stop one Incursion before getting destroyed.
It turns out that the reason for the Incursions were that it was all part of a grand experiment of a race of super power aliens called the Beyonders. They were detonating the Molecule Man of each universe to spark Incursions, because they wanted to bear witness to the death of the Multiverse. Doctor Doom intercepted the Beyonders’ plans and used it to steal their powers. He became God Emperor Doom and took all the surviving worlds, combining them into one earth, Battleworld (this starting the Secret Wars story arc).
As we all well know, the Avengers Secret Wars movie is in the works, so we already know Secret Wars is confirmed.
In the same teaser, we can also hear that Nick Fury said:
“They’re here.”
We still don’t know who they are, and from the looks of the teaser, it doesn’t really seem to be an Incursion. It could still be a form of Incursion but we’ll have to wait until the movie releases to know more about what it is and who “they” are.
The synopsis reads:
Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan, Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team-up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as “The Marvels.”
Marvel Studios’ “The Marvels” stars Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, Iman Vellani, Zawe Ashton, Gary Lewis, Park Seo-joon, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Saagar Shaikh, and Samuel L. Jackson.
Nia DaCosta directs with Kevin Feige producing. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Mary Livanos, Jonathan Schwartz and Matthew Jenkins serve as executive producers. The screenplay is by Megan McDonnell, Nia DaCosta, Elissa Karasik and Zeb Wells.
