Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 5 Finally Adds A Proper Ending With A New Epilogue

Larian Studios has released Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 5 , which is a massive 30GB update and the biggest patch since the game was originally launched.
According to the patch notes, Baldur’s Gate 3 now has a proper ending with the addition of a new epilogue chapter. Previously, the game sort of just ended abruptly, causing an unsatisfying resolution.
The new Baldur’s Gate 3 epilogue is set at camp in High Hall, with a view overlooking the city, this new playable chapter takes place six months after the events of Baldur’s Gate 3’s story, and is accessible to all players by loading the game prior to the final fight.
Your epilogue is defined by you. This is the culmination of every choice and consequence that you’ve made since the very start of your adventure, a gigantic tree of permutations that leads to an opportunity to reflect on that journey before you say goodbye. For the writers of Larian, this “final goodbye” has resulted in some of the most complex writing in the game thus far, as it takes advantage of Baldur’s Gate 3’s reactivity across the entire adventure.
You’ll experience new cinematics that reflect the arc of your story, reunite with your companions to reminisce and trade tales, read letters sent by old friends, and keep abreast of the latest Baldur’s Gate news with updates in the Baldur’s Mouth Gazette. Not sure where you put Scratch’s ball? You can play a game of fetch using the Astral Prism instead – the Forbidden Squeaky. What else can you expect here? Well, there’s new music from Bobby, brand new faces at camp, and a special cinematic ending for Gale and Lae’zel depending on your choices along the way.
Baldur’s Gate 3 launched for PC and Mac via Steam and GOG on 3 August 2023 and for PS5 on 6 September 2023. The release date for the Xbox Series X/S version will be announced at The Game Awards 2023 next week.
Baldur’s Gate 3 has also received a whopping eight nominations at The Game Awards 2023. Baldur’s Gate 3 was originally launched for PC and Mac via Steam and GOG on 3 August 2023, as well as for PS5 on 6 September 2023.
In the meantime, check out my review of Baldur’s Gate 3 after more than 100 hours of playtime (at the time of writing).
