Oshi No Ko Gets Two Live-Action Adaptations This 2024

Japan’s Toei Company has collaborated with Amazon to produce both a live-action TV drama series and a live-action film based on the popular manga, Oshi No Ko. The manga, which has sold over 15 million copies worldwide, garnered immense popularity and anticipation for its release.

Both the live-action series and movie are set to premiere in the Winter of 2024, with the drama series being exclusively streamed on Amazon Prime Video worldwide, while the movie will be distributed in Japan by Toei.

The cast members have donned their costumes portraying their respective characters, including Asuka Saito who portrays the role of Ai Hoshino, Nagisa Saito as Ruby Hoshino, Kaito Sakurai as Aqua Hoshino, Nanoka Hara as Kana Arima, Mizuki Kayashima as Akane Kurokawa, and Ano as Mem-cho.

The manga, created by Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari, made its debut in 2020, followed by an anime series in 2023. The theme song of the series, titled “Idol,” made history by becoming the very first Japanese-language song to reach the top of the Billboard global chart.

While no specific release date has been announced yet for both live-action, we do know that the anime series is confirmed for Season 2.
