Teasing Master Takagi-san Anime Is Getting A Live-Action Adaptation

The upcoming live-action adaptation of Soichiro Yamamoto’s popular manga and anime series Teasing Master Takagi-san has announced a release window for March 2024. This announcement was made on the Japanese TBS (Tokyo Broadcasting System), where it will be featured on its “Drama Stream” programming block, providing entertainment for viewers in the country.
Following its premiere in Japan, the adaptation will be available worldwide on 26 March 2024 via Netflix, with new episodes premiering on the platform every Tuesday.
In addition to the announced release window, the showrunners have provided further information regarding the staff and cast for the upcoming adaptation. They have revealed who will be taking on the lead roles of Takagi-san and Nishikata.
Takagi’s character will be played by Rui Tsukishima, a top model for Shueisha’s Seventeen magazine. Soya Kurokawa, known for his role in Hirokazu Koreeda’s Monster, will be portraying the character of Nishikata.
Also, the manga will be getting a live-action feature film, which tells an original story set ten years after the manga’s middle school period. The movie will premiere exclusively in Japan on 31 May 2024, with no international release mentioned.
Rikiya Imaizumi, who is best known for his direction of the live-action adaptation of “Hozuki-san Chi no Aneki,” will be directing both the live-action series and the movie adaptation. He will work alongside Tomoki Kanazama and Jun Hagimori, who will co-write the script. Takashi Ohmama will be involved in composing the music for the project.
