WWE 2K24 Launches This Year; Cody Rhodes Graces The Cover

Iconic wrestling video game series, WWE will make its annual return in March, publisher 2K has announced.

WWE 2K24, which is scheduled for release this year, coincides with the 40th anniversary of WrestleMania. 2K has also revealed a special edition of the game that commemorates this major milestone. The special editions will be available three days before the standard edition becomes available.

The standard edition cover showcases Cody Rhodes, while the deluxe edition highlights Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley. This marks the very first time in history that two women have been featured on the same cover of the WWE 2K game. Plus, the special ‘Forty Years of WrestleMania’ edition of the game boasts a roster comprising some of the most iconic WWE wrestlers, including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, The Undertaker, and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin.

WWE 2K24 introduces numerous enhancements to the gameplay experience, such as the introduction of Super Finishers, the Trading Blows mini-game, the top rope dive onto a group of opponents outside the ring, double title matches, and a host of other new features. Players will have access to a wider range of weapon types, including trash cans, guitars, and microphones, allowing for a more impactful experience. To enhance the overall immersion, the game features seven real WWE referees, for players to relive the best WWE moments back in the good old days.

2K24 introduces new match types in Special Guest Referee, Ambulance Match, Casket Match, and Gauntlet Match. Additionally, a four-player update is coming to Backstage Brawls. The core wrestling system is being enhanced with the introduction of Super Finishers and a new minigame centred around trading blows. The MyGM mode will be expanding to include more match types, trades between brands, and a new level-up system for drafting superstars. MyRise, MyFaction, and Universe will all return with new features and updates.

WWE 2K24 will launch on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The standard version will cost $59.99 on the previous generation consoles, while on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S it will cost $69.99. Additionally, a cross-generation digital version of the game will also be available for $69.99. The standard version will be released on 8 March 2024.

The deluxe version of the game will cost $99.99. This will include a season pass to all five post-launch DLC packs, including the standard Cross-Gen edition, and alternative outfits for Belair and Ripley.

The Forty Years of WrestleMania edition will cost $119.99. In addition to the offerings in the deluxe version, this edition will also include alternative costumes for other wrestlers and an instant unlock of all playable wrestlers in the Showcase.

Both the Deluxe and Forty Years of WrestleMania editions of the game will be released on 5 March 2024.
