Alan Wake 2 Sales Surpass 1.3 Million, Remedy’s Fastest-Selling Game Ever

Remedy Entertainment has announced that Alan Wake 2 sales surpassed 1.3 million units worldwide and it is now the company’s fastest-selling game to date.

Alan Wake 2 launched digitally for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Epic Games Store on 27 October 2023. One million units were sold by the end of December 2023, and 1.3 million units by the beginning of February 2024. Alan Wake 2 sold over 50 percent more copies and over three times more digital copies in its first month than Control did in its first four months.

Remedy Entertainment CEO Tero Virtala said:

“We are happy with the start of Alan Wake II‘s sales. The price point has also remained at a high level, and the game has already recouped a significant part of the development and marketing expenses. We will continue to develop the game to serve existing fans and attract new players and expect the game to continue selling well.

The successful launch of Alan Wake II has supported our other game projects: Condor, Control 2, and Max Payne 1 and 2 remake have all increased development pace thanks to the personnel released from Alan Wake II, and we expect these projects to reach their next development stages during the first half of 2024. We now have two established franchises: Control and Alan Wake, which are linked through the Remedy Connected Universe. Growing and expanding these franchises will be a key part of our future.”

Remedy Entertainment is currently developing two paid DLC that will expand the story of Alan Wake 2.

Expansion 1 is called Night Springs, and is currently due out in late spring 2024, but that release window is subject to change. Expansion 2 is called The Lakehouse, which is yet to receive a release window.

The official synopsis for Night Springs reads:

“Visions and dreams. Fiction is written and coming true. Fiction collapses and remains just words on a page. These are those stories… in Night Springs. Play as several familiar characters from the world of Alan Wake and experience the unexplainable in multiple self-contained episodes of Night Springs, a fictional TV-show set in the world of Alan Wake.”

The official synopsis for The Lakehouse reads:

“The Lake House is a mysterious facility situated on the shores of Cauldron Lake set up by an independent government organization to conduct secret research… until something goes wrong. Explore the Lake House and embark on two separate adventures as the realities of Saga Anderson and Alan Wake collide again.”
