Asia PopCon 2024 had its soft launch yesterday afternoon! Now if you haven’t heard, Malaysia is hosting the first-ever Asia pop culture convention. Earlier this month, we had a teensy bit of info about what’s to come, today we got to hear a bit more on what you can expect!

The Soft Launch was held at the Hyatt Place in Bukit Jalil. The Hyatt Place is a hotel which is beside the Pavilion Exhibition Centre, Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur where the convention will be held at on 28-29 September 2024. It’s a strategic location since Pavilion Bukit Jalil is nearby and there are tons of retail spots for visitors to drop by.

We got to hear from and meet the organizers and it was extremely heartwarming to see the team excited about what they have in store for you guys! Here’s some extra stuff we learned from the soft launch today!

PopCon will be getting a local toy maker to make an adorable Popkun toy. This will happen annually so we will see them as collectibles in the future. This year we’ve got Pop Kun!

One of the things that really caught our interest was the event called the Battle of the Bands, in which bands will rock it out to old 80s and 90s pop culture music. Who knows, maybe you could hear Looney Tunes being rocked out.

You can also be a part of the convention as a Sponsor or even an exhibitor. Showcase and promote your collectibles, toys, art, and everything pop culture! It’s all about giving back to our local community, so if you are interested, here are some details. From what we were told today, the early bird price is currently RM1,500.

PopCon has already announced a special guest attending, David Hayter of Metal Gear fame! We’re excited to hear and announce more guests as soon as we get confirmation. Shah and Zend were both happy to answer any questions from attendees during a small Q&A session. The event was then closed out with a small picture-taking ceremony!
