Last Epoch: How To Unlock Mastery
By Jonathan ToyadVerified|February 26, 2024|0 Comment
Last Epoch is out right now in 1.0 form for PC, and is a helluva action RPG to get into right now. It features various high fantasy elements and time travelling shenanigans, five playable classes with 15 masteries to branch to, a ton of loot and customization options, and a massive endgame.
Speaking of classes, each of the five you get to play as -Mage, Rogue, Primalist, Acolyte, Sentinel- have their own Masteries which changes your playstyle and add more awesome combat skills and powers. For example, if you like curses, go for the Acolyte’s Warlock. If you want to heal and be a tank, the Sentinel’s Paladin is a good choice.
But how does one unlock Masteries for their chosen class? We’re here to help.
To unlock your character’s Mastery, all you have to do is defeat the boss Elder Pannion in Chapter 2 of the game’s story mode. Once you’ve done that, head to End of Time (the game’s main hub), then talk to the Forgotten Knight and accept the quest “The Power of Mastery”. Then head to Elder Gaspar who is on the second level; take the floating spiral staircase up northwest to get there. You’ll then get to choose which Mastery you want to unlock for your class.
Keep in mind that once you’ve chosen your Mastery, you cannot change it afterwards. So think about it and choose wisely. Also, you need to have at least 20 Passive Points in your base class’ main tree before you can start putting points in your chosen Mastery’s skill tree.
To help you out, here’s a Mastery tier list for the launch version of Last Epoch (via Maxroll).
S Tier: Rogue Falconer, Rogue Bladedancer, Sentinel Paladin, Acolyte Warlock, Mage Runemaster, Primalist Shaman
A Tier: Sentinel Forge Guard, Acolyte Necromancer, Rogue Marksman, Acolyte Lich, Primalist Druid, Mage Spellblade, Primalist Beastmaster
B Tier: Mage Sorcerer, Sentinel Void Knight
