Overwatch-Like Marvel Rivals Announced, Roster Includes Avengers & One X-Men Character
NetEase Games has announced Marvel Rivals, a free-to-play 6v6 team-based multiplayer third-person shooter for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
If you’re interested in playing the game, you can register now on the official website because the Marvel Rivals closed alpha test is planned for sometime in May 2024.
Marvel Rivals is a superhero team-based player-versus-player shooter with a roster that includes members of the Avengers, X-Men, Guardians Of The Galaxy and more from the Marvel Universe.
Players can coordinate unique combinations between characters to ignite surprising Team-Up Skills such as riding on Groot’s back as Rocket Raccoon to take on your enemies as a dangerous duo, unleashing Gamma energy as Hulk to charge Iron Man’s armour for massive damage and more.
There’s still a lot we don’t know about the game, but for now, it just looks like a clone of Overwatch or Paladins but with Marvel characters. Can it survive the current decline of Overwatch-like games on the market (not to mention the decline in popularity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in recent times)? We’ll have to wait and see.
From the trailer, the roster right now includes:
- Iron Man
- Peni Parker
- Hulk
- Doctor Strange
- Luna Snow
- Magik
- Namor
- Groot
- Rocket Raccoon
- Black Panther
- Loki
- Spider-Man
For some reason, the game also features Galacta, the obscure daughter of Galactus in another universe (not Earth-616).
