Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance Will Arrive One Week Earlier On All Platforms

Publisher SEGA and developer ATLUS have moved up the original release date of Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance to a week earlier, allowing fans to explore everything in the world of Da’at earlier than initially thought.

Originally announced for a 21 June 2024 release date during the Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase in February 2024, the RPG series will soon launch for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on 14 June 2024. Those who have pre-ordered the game will have their orders automatically adjusted to the updated release date and will not require any additional reorders.

Vengeance offers a fresh take on Shin Megami Tensei V, with a remixed and enhanced storyline. Players who return to the world of demon hunting and forging friendships with demons will find a new storyline to explore, as well as new areas, fresh beasts, an improved battle system, and enhanced visuals, particularly on Xbox and PlayStation consoles.

The game presents a full-scale RPG catering to existing fans and newcomers. Upon starting the game, players will be presented with the choice of embarking on either the story presented in Shin Megami Tensei V (the Canon of Creation) or the brand-new Canon of Vengeance. This captivating tale of revenge introduces a cast of new characters, a mysterious group of demons known as the Qadištu, and a new dungeon and map for players to explore. Furthermore, the combat system, demon merging, and field exploration from the original Shin Megami Tensei V have been enhanced and expanded in this latest instalment in the series.

According to ATLUS, the new Canon of Vengeance scenario maintains the general storyline up until approximately the middle of the game. However, at that point, the turn of events undergoes a significant transformation, leading to a different outcome for the protagonist’s adventure.

Based on ATLUS’ official plot description, here’s what the Canon of Vengeance is about:

“Demons attack humans and seek to create a world of chaos. Bethel, an organisation that seeks to protect God’s order. Caught up in the conflict between the two, while exploring Da’at, the protagonist meets and starts traveling with Yoko Hiromine. Using magic, Yoko and the main character stand together on the front line.”

“The Qadištu, 4 female Demons stand in their way. “Found it, the Key of Resurrection……” A member of the Qadištu, Lilith, calls protagonist the Key of Resurrection, and herself The Oppressed. What is their purpose? A tale of revenge by the oppressed begins.”

Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance is scheduled on 14 June 2024 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
