The solo maker of the hit roguelike game Balatro, LocalThunk, has released a new update for their sole title for testing.
Balatro’s new 1.0.1 patch is available for public testers; the update’s proper release will be ready in “about a week”. Changes in 1.0.1 include:
- The reduction of ante scaling, which means the game will be slightly easier.
- A few new Joker mechanics like “Perishable” (the card is disabled after 5 rounds) and “Rental” (the card costs $1 at first, then costs an upkeep of $3 every round).
- New Joker buffs, including cards and tags.
This being a public test mode, you need to head to your Steam page of the game and do the following to access it:
- Click on the gear icon on the Balatro Steam library entry
- Head to Properties > Betas > Beta Participation.
- Select “public_experimental”
Have fun! If you’re wondering why there isn’t a mobile version of Balatro yet, that’s because LocalThunk is working on it. The developer is also doing post-launch support and add more secrets to the game. Full update list & changes below.
