Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes – Hero Recruitment Guide
True to its namesake (kinda), new JRPG title Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, has 100 heroes. And possibly more!
This new ode to 90s JRPG and the Suikoden franchise (still owned by Konami, hence this successor in everything but name) is a lengthy and jam-packed experience, meaning that finding the titular heroes will take a while and some luck. Good thing we’re making this guide to sort you out.
Here’s a guide on how to find all the game’s heroes. Keep in mind that this guide is still a work in progress as the game just launched, and we still are missing several Heroes.
Also, while we won’t spoil the game’s story, some of these heroes can only be obtained midway and late in the game. This means some vague plot descriptions, chapter reveals, and names will need to be mentioned. So here’s your warning.
Lian, Garr, Mio
This trio will join you at the start of the game. They’re your default companions.
Francesca
A kind healer with a hot temper. You can find her in Altverden Village (Grumm County, west of Fort Xialuke) at the back. After a hilarious cutscene, she’ll join your crew.
Mellore
A magical girl who is a good offense-based spellcaster. YOu can find her down the middle road in Eltisweiss at the start of the game. Complete her quest in Redthroat Ridge, and she’s yours.
Kuroto
A hunter. You can find him in Altverden Village. You need to hunt down 5 Wild Boars in Redridge (east of Grumm County). The quest must be active for the kills to count.
Iugo
A samurai who made his debut in Eiyuden Chronicle Rising. Talk to him at the Eltisweiss bar, located at the eastern-most road to the left.
Yusuke
A vagabond with good charge-up melee power; great for frontline fighting early in-game. You can find him at the checkpoint in Fort Xialuke; no requirements are needed after the obligatory intro cutscene.
Gigina
A Beastyn kid hiding behind a giant lion mask. He is in Arenside. She can only be recruited if Nowa is Level 9, and only after the Abandoned Mines quest when you fight the bandits.
This happens after your first war skirmish and first duel.
Wyler
Archer with decent stats. He’s at the entrance to Bounty Hill, near your HQ. Help him find his sister Marin in the area.
Marin
A support character who boosts the number of items you can scavenge at resource spots; very useful in the early game.
Kerrin
A woodcutter. She is near the entrance of Dappled Forest. Get her 20 pieces of wood (in the area) and you can recruit her.
Ormond
Dwarven blacksmith. Meet him at the tail end of Abandoned Mines at Map 4 (Midpoint). He’ll ask for 3 pieces of Iron Ore; farm for it in the area. The Iron Ore must be in your inventory.
Frida
The armour-maker with an eye for fashion. Speak to her outside her shop in Werne Village.
Hiro
Shopkeeper for your HQ. Talk to him at the Abandoned Mines Map 2 (midpoint). You’ve met him before during your quest to find the bandits, as he’s the only shopkeeper in the mines.
Galdorf
Dwarven warrior. Speak to him at the Abandoned Mines entrance. Bring him a Palenight Mail; you can find this near the spot Ormond was; find a shiny part on the pathway.
Failing that, you can get Palenight Mail in the Proving Grounds via a treasure chest.
Falward
Healer. Speak to him in the Altverden Village meeting hall. To get him on board, bring him 15 Healing Herbs. You can buy these at any item store.
Dr. Corque and Reid
A professor and an enthusiast duo of Beyblade Beigoma, the top-spinning minigame. Head to the bottom left of Eltisweiss to begin the Beigoma scenario. Once you beat Reid in the final Beigoma game, you’ll get him. Dr. Corque will join halfway in this long-as-heck sidequest.
The game is tough with your default tops, so kill monsters all across the world to get better tops. You can get the best tops at Chelonian Goliath, Vilashnu, which you can access later in the game.
Martha
Nowa’s aunt who took care of him and his sister Leene when their parents died. Speak to her at your HQ, east of the Inn.
Gierna
A mage with an inferiority complex. Speak to him in The Greatwood (East). Bring him back a Rune of Conservation to recruit him. You can get this Rune from killing the Ancient Seed boss, which is located at the end of the Greatwood.
Perrielle
The noblewoman who leads the Alliance behind the scenes while Nowa acts as the frontman. She joins the campaign midway in the game when you are tasked to head to Hisahn.
Janquis
Perrielle’s manservant. He joins your team right after Perrielle does in the story. Has the best support skill in the game, as it doubles the money you earn in battle.
Huang
A fisherman who can help you in your HQ. Meet him in Hisahn; he’ll give you a bamboo rod to go catch a Wheel-Eye Bream. Its fishing spot is located southwest of the Seaside Cave within the Euchrisse region.
Nell
This character is hiding behind a shop stall in Hisahn. Just talk to him and he’ll join you; he has a useful Support ability that adds more backpack space to store more items in on the road.
Squash
An accessory seller useful for your HQ. He’s at the Treefolk Village. He will want a Sparklestone if you want to recruit him. Find it by killing Phantombirds and Roter Wyverns in the Dappled Forest. They have a small chance of dropping it.
Mariette
A cute librarian. She’s in Twinhorne East, and will join you if you find her charm. It’s located from a Treasure Chest gimmick encounter in
Glen
Card Battle guy who sells cards to you in HQ. Speak to him in Arenside and defeat him in a Card Battle game. Your default deck can beat him depending on your draw.
Shixeen
Card battle bull girl big mama. You need to collect 120 Card Battle cards for her to show up. Beat her in a game and she’s yours. Note that it’s easier to get 120 cards when you have more packs available to purchase; upgrade your Card Shop to get to that point.
Enoe
A fan of Gocteau; he’s in Daphan Village. You can recruit him only if you have HQ level 2 and the Mission Guild built.
Fume
Another fan of Gocteau. He’s in Dappled Forest. You can only recruit him if you have HQ level 2 and the Mission Guild built.
Code L
A Rune eseller for your HQ. He’s in Daphan Village; get the Rune of Currents by defeating the Old Hishahn boss and give it to him. He’ll join you then.
Leon
A knight with a ghost talking to him in his head. He will appear outside the western gates of your HQ, but only if your HQ is at Level 2.
Chron
The achievements guy, and also keeps track of your game stats and data. He is towards the south gate of your HQ; talk to him and he’s in your army.
Hakugin
A ninja in Daphan Village. Bring Mio along to recruit her, as they’re best buds/rivals.
Carrie
A teleporting magical girl. Head to the three different bridge spots in Hisahn to trigger her scenes three times. She’ll join you and become the game’s important fast travel option.
Larla
A woman with a Latino(?) accent. She is at the inn in Eltisweiss. You need to obtain at least one “Great” or “Epic” Success mission in the Mission Guild.
Faye & B’baba
A young thief and a divining seer. Recruiting her may take a while. You can only activate this quest once you have the following:
After all that, you can trigger her sidequest by meeting her at the commercial area of your HQ. After that, you need to recruit B’baba in Daphan Village (just beeline straight to the left to avoid the Lam bug). Then visit her in 1F to figure out Faye’s whereabouts. You have to do this three times; after each time you have to talk to B’baba again.
Eventually after three attempts, you’ll get to recruit Faye.
Riufan
An old man who fights with a spear at Hisahn. To recruit him, you need to be level 32, then talk to him and defeat him in a duel. He’ll join you after.
Lam (Avoid unless you have Riufan)
A blonde lady in Daphan Village. Once Riufan is in your party, talk to him at your HQ and he’ll bring up a blonde character in Daphan Village. Bring him along and then talk to the blond unique NPC at the northwest side.
Note: this quest is bugged. Don’t talk to her when you’re in Daphan Village; otherwise you cannot recruit her.
Seign
One of the other main characters on the box art; great frontman and spellcaster who has awesome tag skills with Nowa and Marisa. He will join you midway in the game (after 20+ hours, after the second major army battle outside Hisahn).
Hildi, Valentine, Pohl
Seign’s company. They’re all great additions to the party -Valentine’s a speedy DPS character, while Hildi and Pohl can provide good spellcasting support in the rear. They join you alongside Seign after the second major army battle outside Hisahn.
Aire
A trainer who loves running. She is located in Hishahn. To recruit her, you need to beat her in a race. Your speed must be 135 or higher to achieve this.
Yaelu
A mid-ranged fighter with long bangs that cover her eyes. Has an awesome all-targeting blind SP skill and also hits pretty hard. She will join you automatically during the campaign in the RuneLens Research Facility mission with Seign.
Mihlu
Yaelu’s brother who wields a metal robot arm. He will join you after the RuneLens Research facility mission with Seign.
Kurtz
This cook in Hishahn can be recruited if you find him a recipe from the Treefolk Village: Grilled Tutuva. A treefolk NPC in Treefolk Village will have it.
Celia
A cook who is rivals with Kurtz. You need to start the Cooking Battle scenario once you recruit Kurtz. Keep playing the Cooking Battle quests; about 15 of them. When prompted, look for the Scroll of Heaven at Seaside Cavern (Hishahn). Then play the last Cooking Battle; Celia will pop up. Once you beat her, she will join you.
Pieter
A humble portly farmer. You can recruit him free of charge from after you acquire your base early in the game.
Isha
The greedy mayor of New Neveah, and one of the stars of Eiyuden Chronicle Rising who is adept at magic. She is at Eltisweiss at the bottom right fountain area, and will only appear during the Great Sandy Sea event involving the Shi’Arcs.
To recruit her, you need to do a series of quests with her involving getting stamps: find a black cat, find a cockatrice egg, and deliver cargo to Arenside. We’ll break them down:
Once those tasks are done, Isha will join your party.
Yuferius VII
A hard-hitting Shi’arc who can deal mega-damage when charging his attacks and doing his “Ode to Jaws” SP move. He automatically joins your party after the Shi’Arc empire storyline is concluded; it’s the one where you have to win at least 2nd place in the sandship racing contest.
Scarlett
Another cool Shi’arc addition. You can only recruit her by beating her in a different sandship racing contest and getting 1st place.
Cabana
A capybara dad who is accompanied by his son; spa and hot springs expert. You can meet them at Impershi’arc; they’ll join you only if your HQ is at level 2.
Stadler
A general who can train your troops while they’re off-party. He is in Impershi’arc at the northeastern side; beat him in a mock war battle and he’ll join you.
Quinn
A bespectacled mage. She is in Impershi’arc. Nowa must be level 37 or higher to initiate her quest; this will take you to the Den of the Dunes. Defeat the boss there and you’ll recruit her to the cause.
Jorhan
An aristocrat who loves paintings. Speak with Jorhan at Hishahn and bring Lady Perrielle with you to start this quest; you need to bring him a Yellow Rose Censer. This antique is dropped by Scarabs in the Eastern Desert. When they drop the unknown antique, it needs to be appraised. Hopefully, you end up with the Yellow Rose Censer after much farming.
Maureus
The muscle mage of might. He is hanging out at the Mountain Path Homeward. You need to have a party member with 250MP or higher if you want to recruit him.
Paquia & Mandie
An egg racer breeder. She is in Arenside; bring her 5 Regular Eggs and she’ll join your ranks. Mandie will join right after.
To get Regular Eggs, just farm Eggfoot outside of HQ.
Rody
A kid who has mad appraisal skills. He is in Dabavin. You need to bring him a Pearl Pocket Watch to get him to join you. The unknown pocket watch is dropped by Desert Killers in the desert area. The item needs to be appraised. You’ll eventually get the Pearl Pocket Watch after some farming.
Reyna
A heavy defense warrior. She is located in Dabavin and will challenge you to a fight to see if your team can break her defense. You need to deal 1573 damage within 3 turns when you fight her. Cast Dark spells and use armor breaker moves if you hope to pull this off around level 30 onward.
Prunella
A rocket launcher-toting mercenary. She is in the Dabavin inn; you need to fork over 100,000 to hire her services. However, she will give 50,000 back.
Douglas
A blacksmith for your HQ. He is in Eltisweiss; bring him 10 Iron Ores and he’ll join you. Note that you need these in your backpack.
Milana
A necromancer. She will outside the Rune Shop in HQ. She will join you only if you have HQ level 2 and Rune Shop level 2.
Marisa, Garoo, the two elves, Nil
They’ll join you when the story bits of Yarnaan happen.
Aleior
A griffin. You need to speak to Marisa in HQ to initiate the quest.
Take her to Altverden Village, and speak to the NPC near the entrance. Then head to the Abandoned Mines and find Aleior inside.
Chandra
A dragon. You need HQ level 2 and the Training Grounds established to start this mission. Speak to the soldiers at the training grounds first to find out the rumour of the dragon. Then bring Code L to the Eldroad. Find and fight Chandra to get it to join your party.
CJ
The main character in Eiyuden Chronicle Rising; a treasure hunter. You need to have Isha and Garoo in your party to initiate this quest. She is near the southern exit of your HQ; talk to her to start the quest. You have to head to the Runebarrows (near the starting village), solve the puzzles there, and defeat the golem boss there alongside Isha and Garoo.
Selbineth
The person who runs your HQ’s Hero Trial room. Your HQ needs to be at level 3, as well as have the Mystery Room unlocked and at least 80 characters recruited to have her pop up. She will be in the mystery room in the basement of your HQ. After trying out Hero Trial mode, she will join your party. You don’t need to succeed in the trial to recruit her, thankfully.
Syd
An artisan. You need to have HQ level 3 to have him pop up. He will be in Hishahn; to recruit him, you need to bring him 1x Mystic Wood, 1x Iron Ore, and 1x Dire Beastbone. The items need to be in your inventory.
Dalton
Sabine’s ex-husband. He is in Twinhorne East and can only be recruited if you have HQ level 3 and the Mission Guild upgraded to level 3. Bring Sabine along for an extra scene.
Hogan
The Australian-accent lizard with a cowboy hat. He is in Twinhorne West at the docks and will only join you if you make 50,000 baqua in profit trading. Talking to him triggers this quest. We’re pretty crap at this, so use this handy Reddit chart to help you out (via II_Blue_II).
Red is the lowest purchase cost (buy it). Blue is the highest sales price (sell it). X in front of the number means you can only sell the item at this location. “xxx” means you can’t sell/buy the item at the location.
Durlan
He’s in the Abandoned Mines depths. You need HQ level 2 and Mission Guild established to recruit him.
Momo
A magical “girl”. Momo is located in Hishahn. Agree to help Momo, and you’ll do a quest at the Seaside Cavern. Defeat the Kraken boss and Momo will join you.
Foxiel
A spear-wielding fox. She is at the eastern square in Athrabalt. Once you talk to her, head back to Kurtz at HQ to whip up a dish for her. Deliver it to her, and she’ll join you.
Clarke
A playwright. He is at the fountain outside the Seign Estate. Bring him the Star-Cross’d Lovers Script and he’ll join you. The script can be found at the Ardinale City item shop.
Aoi
An archer in Twinhorne East. She is looking for her sensei Iugo. Bring Iugo with you to meet up with her; she will challenge him to a one-on-one fight, so be prepared. Our Iugo was at level 40 and managed to win the fight, so use that as your frame of reference.
Galladur
He is located in the Proving Grounds. He is located west of the mechanism that rotates the rooms, just before the west door. He’s hard to spot, but he’s there, meditating. Has a darn good Support skill that speeds up lesser encounters.
El Alicanto
A powerful luchadore. After the events in Snowpeak Pass (after the Cerberus fight), you can head back here and speak to him in the north section of Snowpeak Pass, towards the top. Defeat him in a duel, and he’ll join you.
Allaby
Garoo’s daughter. Speak to her inside the HQ inn and she’ll join you.
Dijkstra
You need to have Quinn in your ranks if you want to recruit this beastperson. He is located in Twinhorne East; make sure Quinn is in your party before speaking to him. You’ll end up doing a quest in the Chelonian Goliath, Vilashnu. Defeat the boss at the end of the dungeon and Dijkstra will join you.
Leene
Nowa’s sister. She will join you at HQ once you recruited all 119 characters. Note that all characters must be recruited before viewing the victory scene at HQ after you fend off the Galdean Empire attack. To be safe, collect all 119 characters during the story quest involving Marisa and Markus at the revenant castle.
