Todd Howard Shares Exciting Updates On Starfield Expansion & Mod Support

In a recent interview with Kinda Funny Games, Todd Howard, the game director at Bethesda, unveiled exciting details about the highly anticipated expansion for Starfield, titled “Shattered Space,” alongside reassuring news about mod support for the game on consoles.

Shattered Space

Howard confirmed that the Shattered Space expansion for Starfield is set to release this fall, following months of speculation since its initial tease before the game’s launch last September. The expansion promises to introduce fresh storylines, locations, gear, and much more, enriching the gameplay experience for fans eagerly awaiting new content.

During the interview, Howard hinted at a significant update arriving for Starfield before the expansion’s launch, emphasizing improvements to the game’s map system. This update is expected to include city maps, enhancing players’ exploration experiences within the vast universe of Starfield.

In addition to discussing the expansion, Howard outlined Bethesda’s commitment to keeping Starfield engaging through regular updates and fixes. The studio plans to roll out significant enhancements roughly every six weeks, ensuring a steady stream of new content and improvements. Howard teased an imminent update, set to be announced within the week and available for testing on Steam beta, focusing on enhancing ship-building mechanics, a crucial aspect of the Starfield experience.

Moreover, Howard hinted at Bethesda’s openness to collaboration with external developers for future projects, showcasing the studio’s ambition to expand its game portfolio while maintaining high-quality standards.

Mod Support for Consoles

Addressing a long-standing query from fans, Howard confirmed that Starfield will indeed support mods on consoles. He underscored the significance of this feature, considering the substantial impact mods have had on Bethesda’s previous titles like Fallout and Skyrim. Howard assured fans that mod support has been integrated from the game’s inception, promising a seamless experience for players looking to enhance their gameplay.

Furthermore, Howard discussed the upcoming release of the Creation Kit modding software, the backbone of several Bethesda titles. While he didn’t provide a specific release date, he mentioned that the Starfield version of the software has already been distributed to some modders, expressing gratitude towards the modding community for their continued support.

As anticipation mounts for Starfield’s Shattered Space expansion and the promised updates, Bethesda continues to demonstrate its dedication to delivering a rich and evolving gaming experience. Stay tuned for further updates as we approach the launch of Starfield’s expansion this fall and explore the exciting possibilities of modding in the Starfield universe.
