The seventh episode of X-Men 97 is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar Malaysia. Check out my spoiler-free review of X-Men 97 by heading over here.
Check out my breakdown of X-Men 97 Episodes 1 and 2, Episode 3, Episode 4, Episode 5 and Episode 6 here.
The synopsis reads:
The upcoming animated series revisits the iconic era of the 1990s as The X-Men, a band of mutants who use their uncanny gifts to protect a world that hates and fears them, are challenged like never before, forced to face a dangerous and unexpected new future. The voice cast includes Ray Chase as Cyclops, Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey, Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm, Cal Dodd as Wolverine, JP Karliak as Morph, Lenore Zann as Rogue, George Buza as Beast, AJ LoCascio as Gambit, Holly Chou as Jubilee, Isaac Robinson-Smith as Bishop, Matthew Waterson as Magneto and Adrian Hough as Nightcrawler.
X-Men The Animated Series originally aired on Fox Kids for 76 episodes across five seasons from 1992 to 1997. The series is currently available to stream on Disney+ Hotstar.
I’ll be discussing heavy spoilers so if you haven’t seen it or want to avoid spoilers, now’s your chance to stop reading.
Not only did she not reciprocate Gambit’s love, she doesn’t even attend his funeral.
No words…
General Thaddeus E. “Thunderbolt” Ross (AKA the Red Hulk in the comics) makes a cameo in this episode, leading the US army at one of the top secret facilities that Rogue is attacking for some reason.
He even name-drops the Hulk, mentioning that the place was “built to hold the Hulk”.
That being said, Rogue still manages to break in and it turns out that she’s looking for Henry Gyrich and Bolivar Trask.
She can be seen helping the survivors of the Genoshan genocide.
Amelia Voght is a mutant possessing the power of transubstantiation, enabling her to convert matter into a psionically resonant vapour at will. In simple terms, she can turn into mist. She was previously in the original X-Men The Animated Series, as a former love interest of Charles Xavier and a member of Magneto’s Acolytes.
He gives Rogue some information on Henry Gyrich and Bolivar Trask.
Also, we received this awesome shot of Rogue with the iconic shield.
She survived due to her awakened diamond powers, which is part of her second mutation.
This is why the X-Men is more than a team, they’re a family.
It remains unclear who this individual is.
In cold blood.
In the comics, OZT is Operation Zero Tolerance, a project by an individual named Bastion to exterminate mutants.
Bastion is a mysterious man named Sebastion Gilberti who had risen to power in a relatively short time in the U.S. Government and began assembling the international anti-mutant strike force Operation Zero Tolerance (OZT).
His origin is that he is not a human at all, but a fusion of Master Mold and Nimrod, which means that he’s essentially a sort of ‘human’ sentinel. He has the power of a sentinel and the power to turn humans into Prime Sentinels, which is what he does to Bolivar Trask in this episode of X-Men 97.
Basically, a ‘human’ sentinel.
Where’s Iron Man in all this?
His head popped but he’s probably still alive.
He helps the X-Men defeat the Bolivar Trask Prime Sentinel.
I wrote this article as I was watching it, and I was right! It is Bastion all along!
Bastion and Mister Sinister learn that Charles Xavier is still alive.
At the very end, it’s revealed that Magneto is still alive and Bastion is… shaving him.
Only three episodes left for X-Men 97 Season 1.
Until next week, excelsior!
