For democracy, for the Republic! Soon, Helldivers 2 players will likely be able to mod Star Wars into the game.

YouTuber ToastedShoes uploaded their latest creation to their channel with a 24-minute video that shows off the Helldivers 2 Star Wars mode featuring Clone Troopers and changing enemies to CIS Separatist Droids like Droidekas, as well as even changing the starships and dropships to the ones from Star Wars (such as the Venators). However, weapons don’t seem to change, though the mod can always be updated in the future.

Unfortunately for Helldivers 2 players, the Helldivers 2 Star Wars mod is not available to download yet. At the time of writing, according to Reddit, it will be behind a US$5 paywall on ToastedShoes’ Patreon page, but there’s no release date yet.

Once it does become available (whenever that is), the Helldivers 2 Star Wars mod will probably be the game’s most popular mod, considering the popularity of Star Wars and how well it fits the tone of Helldivers 2.

Developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and published by PlayStation, Helldivers 2 is a third-person squad-based shooter that sees the elite forces of the Helldivers battling to win an intergalactic struggle to rid the galaxy of the rising alien threats. From a 3rd person perspective, players use a variety of weapons (pistols, machine guns, flamethrowers) and stratagems (turrets, airstrikes, etc.) to shoot and kill the alien threats. Players can also aim down the sights for a more accurate 1st person-camera view.

Combat is accompanied by frequent sprays of blood and dismemberment as players exterminate the alien forces or players and squad mates are hit by environmental explosions or friendly fire. Enemy encampments and battlefield environments depict bloodstains and dismembered corpses.
