Action Roguelike game Realm of Ink enters Early Access next Week

Publisher 663 Games and developer Leap Studio have unveiled the Early Access release date for their anticipated in-style action roguelike game, Realm of Ink.

In this game, players take on the role of the protagonist and expert swordsperson known as Red. While pursuing a cunning Fox demon, Red discovers that she is a fictional character within the short story collection known as Realm of Ink. To uncover the dark secrets of the Book Spirit and defy her predetermined fate, Red must unlock the mysteries of her own existence.

The story unfolds in a virtual realm where inhabitants unknowingly reside as mere fabrications within a fictional world. They are controlled by the mysterious Book Spirit, who determines their predetermined fates, leaving these beings oblivious to the cyclical nature of their lives.

The Early Access of the game offers abundant content for players to enjoy. It has been confirmed that the four-act levels and eight bosses will be available, as well as the first playable character, Red the Swordswoman, who will be equipped with three weapons. Plus, the first layer of world-building and approximately 30 per cent of the storyline will be included in the initial release. Players seeking a challenge will have the opportunity to engage in endless mode gameplay.

During Early Access, the game will experience ongoing updates, prioritizing optimization and the addition of new content. This includes expanding the roster of playable characters, enhancing the Ink Pet gameplay mechanics, introducing new weapons, formidable bosses, and much more.

In a press release, Leap Studio CEO Dai expressed his enthusiasm:

“We are incredibly excited to be releasing Realm of Ink onto Steam Early Access and taking the next step on our development journey. While we aim for a flawless official launch, as a newly established independent game studio, we acknowledge that our experience and resources are still growing. We recognize that only by relying on genuine feedback and suggestions from players can we continuously refine our product and deliver the best gaming experience possible.”

Realm of Ink will launch for Early Access on 17 May 2024 exclusive for PC via Steam.
