Publisher 505 Games and developer ArtPlay have announced that the version 1.5 update for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will feature new cosmetic packs and two new multiplayer game modes.

The two new modes being introduced are Chaos Mode and Versus Mode. Chaos Mode is a randomized multiplayer mode where players team up against demonic hordes of enemies and bosses in a cooperative battle for survival. Versus Mode, on the other hand, lets two players battle waves of demons in separate arenas, earning souls to spend on more powerful weapons and armour as they attempt to outlast their opponent. Players can also purchase unique abilities to interfere with their rivals, such as filling their room with fog and reversing their controls.

Both multiplayer game variants support local play and online matchmaking on the same system, but neither will support cross-platform play.

In addition, premium cosmetic packs will be added to the game. Miriam’s appearance can be further customized with three new premium cosmetic packs, each offering multiple unique clothing items and weapons with upgradeable stats.

The developer has also announced that they are currently working on the development of a subsequent expansion for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. Titled “Classic II: Dominique’s Curse,” this expansion will feature the same retro-gameplay as Classic Mode but with a bigger map and its own canon storyline, although no release date has been announced yet.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night 1.5 update will launch on 9 May 2024 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, followed by 16 May for Nintendo Switch.
