MOBA Sci-Fi Anime Shooter Second Wave is Out Right Now in Early Access

Publisher and developer Challengers Games has released the anticipated MOBA sci-fi anime shooter, Second Wave in Steam Early Access.

Following the game’s last beta test in October 2023, the development team has been diligently working to ensure that players have the best possible experience with Second Wave. Originally scheduled for release at the end of 2024, the launch was postponed to allow for additional development time. With Second Wave now available in Early Access, players have the opportunity to test the game and provide feedback to the developers, ultimately shaping the game for its full release in 2025.

Second Wave offers a diverse range of characters, each with its own unique playstyle, including warrior, mage, assassin, and healer. These characters, known as Heroes, even can switch roles mid-game. The game features three main modes: Domination (2 teams of 6 players), Three-Way-Battle (3 teams of 4 players), and Stone Grab (4 teams of 3 players). Each mode presents distinct objectives, such as collecting points by defeating or capturing opponents in the first two modes and capturing Arcane Stones in the Stone Grab mode.

During the Early Access phase, numerous improvements and changes have been introduced, including a redesigned map for Trestyn, with additional refinements still in progress. The UI of the main menu has been completely overhauled, streamlining animations and system interactions to enhance user-friendliness. The hero selection menu and customization options have also been updated, allowing players to delve into each character’s story, skills, and more.

Various modes are included, such as “Private” for you and your friends to play and AI matchmaking. However, the Ranked mode will not be available for the Early Access version. But that’s not all! To commemorate the early access period, players get to do a lot of events in Second Wave such as earning crystals, cosmetics, and more.

Second Wave is out now in Steam Early Access, followed by Xbox and PlayStation at a later date.
