Lucasfilm and Disney+ Hotstar have unveiled a brand new trailer for the upcoming Star Wars The Acolyte live-action series. The first two episodes will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on 5 June 2024.
What’s notable about this new trailer is that it reveals that Amandla Stenberg’s Mae is a former Jedi Padawan of Lee Jung-jae’s Master Sol. The trailer also reveals the first look at the mysterious serial killer murderer who is killing all the Jedi.
The Acolyte is set in the High Republic era during the prime of the Jedi, around one hundred years before the events of Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace. As such, these are all brand new characters, with the exception of perhaps a young Master Yoda who is alive during this era.
The Acolyte stars Amandla Stenberg (Bodies Bodies Bodies), Lee Jung-jae (Squid Game), Manny Jacinto (Nine Perfect Strangers), Dafne Keen (Logan), Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim), Rebecca Henderson (Inventing Anna), Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll), Dean-Charles Chapman (1917), and Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix).
For more details on each character, the StarWarsLord is here to help.
The synopsis reads:
The Acolyte is a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era. A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated.
It follows an investigation into a crime spree that pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee Jung-jae) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Amandla Stenberg). As clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems.
It’s been a good year for Star Wars fans. The latest Star Wars IP to be released in 2024 were Star Wars The Bad Batch Season 3, which premiered on 21 February 2024 and recently ended, and the anthology series, Star Wars Tales Of The Empire.
