Bethesda Faces Backlash Over Starfield DLC Pricing

During the 2024 Xbox Game Showcase, Bethesda unveiled more details about its upcoming Starfield DLC, Shattered Space, and introduced the Starfield Creation Kit, which allows players to add new content to the game. However, not all fans are pleased with the recent developments, particularly the cost associated with the latest DLC.

In a June update video posted on Bethesda’s official YouTube channel, the studio announced a new series of missions for a group called the Track Alliance. The second mission in this series, “The Vulture,” is priced at US$7. However, due to the need to purchase 1,000 Starfield creation credits to buy it, the actual cost to players is US$10.

This pricing strategy has sparked significant criticism within the Starfield community. Fans took to the official Starfield Reddit to express their discontent, with one user bluntly stating, “Charging 7 dollars per quest is fu**ing stupid.”

The backlash has extended to Steam, where Starfield has been review-bombed, resulting in an overall rating of “Mixed.” Many negative reviews specifically criticize the additional charges for content.

As Bethesda moves forward with its DLC plans, it remains to be seen how they will address the community’s concerns regarding the pricing model.
