Delicious in Dungeon Secures Second Season

The popular anime “Delicious in Dungeon,” also known as “Dungeon Meshi,” has officially been renewed for a second season. Following the broadcast of the 24th and final episode of the first season on 13 June, Kadokawa announced the continuation of the series with both a visual and a video teaser.

In a statement made in January, Yoshihiro Miyajima, the director of “Delicious in Dungeon,” confirmed that a second season was already in development. “It’s Trigger’s first manga-adaptation anime,” Miyajima noted. “Our team is dedicated to bringing this wonderful series to fans around the world. With the first episode aired, there are more episodes on the way, totalling two seasons. We hope you enjoy it!”

The anime boasts a talented voice cast, including:

  • Kentar? Kumagai as Laios
  • Sayaka Senbongi as Marcille
  • Asuna Tomari as Chilchuck
  • Hiroshi Naka as Senshi
  • Saori Hayami as Falin
  • Akira Miki as Namari
  • Shinji Kawada as Shuro
  • Wataru Kat? as Kabru
  • Rie Takahashi as Rinsha
  • Miyu Tomita as Mickbell
  • T?ru Nara as Kuro
  • Y?ya Hirose as Holm
  • Kei Kawamura as Daya

The second half of the first season introduced additional characters voiced by:

  • Mitsuho Kambe as Izutsumi
  • Y?ko Hikasa as Maizuru
  • Arisa Shida as Hien
  • Akari Kit? as Benichidori
  • Yoshino Furuya as Inutade
  • Y? Kobayashi as Sissel
  • K?ki Uchiyama as Mithrun
  • Ayumu Murase as Yaad

Yen Press licensed the manga, and it describes the story:

What do you get when you cross dungeon adventures and food manga? You get Delicious in Dungeon, where we find our troupe of adventurers on a mission to save their lost team member while figuring out how to survive on the food that the dungeon provides. When young adventurer Laios and his company are attacked and soundly thrashed by a dragon deep in a dungeon, the party loses all its money and provisions. They’re eager to get right back to it, but there’s just one problem: if they set out with no food or coin to speak of, they’re sure to eat it on the way! But Laios comes up with a brilliant idea: “Let’s eat the monsters!” Slimes, basilisks, mimics, and even dragons…none are safe from the appetites of these dungeon-crawling gourmands!

The first series was directed by Yoshihiro Miyajima, known for his work on the SSSS.Dynazenon film and SSSS.Gridman. Kimiko Ueno, who has worked on The Royal Tutor and Eternal Boys, handled the series scripts. Naoki Takeda, the chief animation director for BNA: Brand New Animal, designed the characters, and Yasunori Mitsuda, famed for composing for Chrono Trigger and Xenoblade Chronicles, created the music.

Ry?ko Kui’s manga, which started in Kadokawa’s Harta magazine in February 2014, concluded on 15 September 2023. Fans of the series eagerly anticipate the next series, looking forward to more thrilling adventures and delicious monster dishes.

For those eager to dive into the culinary adventures, the first season of “Delicious in Dungeon” is available for streaming on Netflix.
