Octopath Traveler 2 Coming Soon To Xbox Series, Prequel Coming To PlayStation

As part of Square Enix’s new multiplatform initiative following “terrible” sales of its PlayStation 5 exclusives (and Foamstars), the company is starting to port one of its cherished JRPGs: the Octopath Traveler games.

The Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee has rated the Xbox Series version of Octopath Traveler 2, meaning that a release date for this port will shortly be out this month. Most likely on this coming weekend’s summer games announcements fiesta. Our guess? The port will be out before June ends.

Additionally, the committee has rated the original Octopath Traveler for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. The game first came out for Nintendo Switch on 2018, followed by a PC port on 2019 and Xbox One port on 2021. Also, this one is predicted to be out before June ends.

The Octopath Traveler games are renowned for their lush HD-2D graphics and art style, lovely multi-character narrative, great turn-based JRPG combat system with multiple classes/Jobs to acquire, and stellar music from Yasunori Nishiki. So it’s great to see more ports of this series going around to hopefully convert more people to adoring JRPGs.
