Twin Directors RackaRacka Exit Legendary’s ‘Street Fighter’ Adaptation

The Australian twin filmmakers Danny and Michael Philippou, popularly known online as RackaRacka, have stepped away from Legendary’s highly anticipated adaptation of Capcom’s classic video game, Street Fighter.

Sources indicate that scheduling conflicts were a significant factor. Legendary and Capcom were eager to start production soon, but the Philippou brothers have redirected their focus to “Bring Her Back,” a project that reunites them with A24, the studio behind their surprise horror hit “Talk to Me.” This new film, starring Sally Hawkins and Billy Barratt, is set to begin filming in Australia later this month.

With the Philippou twins no longer attached, Legendary is now seeking a new director for the Street Fighter project.

RackaRacka, comprised of Australian twin filmmakers Danny and Michael Philippou, gained fame on YouTube for their high-energy, special effects-laden videos blending comedy, horror, and action. Known for their creative and often intense content, the duo transitioned into mainstream filmmaking with their critically acclaimed horror film “Talk to Me.” Their unique style and innovative approach have earned them a significant following and recognition in both online and traditional media circles.
