Indie game developer Berserk Boy Games has revealed their upcoming project, Berserk B.I.T.S (Battle.Intelligent.Teammate.System), which is slated for release on Steam Early Access later this year. This browser-based game transforms Mega Man Battle Network into an auto-battler, idle RPG experience.

Berserk Boy Games gained recognition earlier this year with Berserk Boy, a 2D platformer homage to classic Mega Man games. Check out our review to learn more about Berserk Boy. Their new project will further expand on this universe, offering pixel art nostalgia in a different gaming genre.

Players take on the role of a hero on screen, battling viruses and collecting chips to purchase furniture and decorate the home base. Berserk B.I.T.S. operates within a window on the player’s PC desktop, allowing them to engage with it while using other applications. The game also features an idle RPG element, where players can recruit helper programs.

The gameplay draws inspiration from Mega Man Battle Network, with battles occurring on familiar grids. Enemies and bosses approach from the right side of the window, and the hero moves up and down grid rows to fend them off. The action unfolds as an auto-battler that lets players impact the outcome by crafting and equipping battle chips, providing the hero with potent new attacks.

Berserk B.I.T.S is set to expand to other platforms at a later date. The developer intends to provide ongoing support for the game, incorporating new battle chips and modes based on community input.

Although there is no release date disclosed yet, Berserk B.I.T.S can be wishlist now on Steam.
