Capcom & C2E4 Launch Inaugural Campus Legends Street Fighter 6 SEA Invitational

Campus Legends Southeast Asia (SEA), the leading inter-tertiary esports tournament series by C2E4, proudly announces its collaboration with Capcom for the inaugural Campus Legends Street Fighter 6 Southeast Asia Invitational (CLSF6I).

CLSF6I is set to become the largest regional collegiate esports tournament, featuring players and teams from Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia. The event provides a platform for tertiary students to display their gaming skills, representing their countries and colleges with pride. Scholarships and prize money are also at stake.

Shared Vision for Esports

This marks the first partnership between Campus Legends SEA and Capcom. Both organizations aim to promote esports as a legitimate and inclusive form of competition, fostering sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth among students. By collaborating on CLSF6I, they provide a regional stage for collegiate esports athletes.

Street Fighter 6, the latest edition of the iconic fighting game series, will be featured in the tournament. The game made history as the first esports fighting title at the inaugural Olympic Esports Week last year, making its inclusion in CLSF6I a significant milestone.

Ricky Bian Li, Managing Director of Capcom Singapore expressed his excitement stating:

“Esports within the collegiate landscape has seen exponential growth, and we are honored to help accelerate that growth by including Street Fighter 6 in these Southeast Asian collegiate events,”

Frank Yong, Managing Director of C2E4, emphasized the partnership’s importance and reiterated C2E4’s commitment to delivering top-notch collegiate events.

“For esports to advance, we need to establish rules and structures for university-level competitions, similar to other collegiate sports. We hope C2E4 can be part of this process in partnership with Capcom and Southeast Asia’s Esports Associations.”

Expanding Across the Region

Regional esports associations are supporting CLSF6I by hosting in-country qualifiers. The Singapore qualifier will take place on 3-4 August 2024. Kelvin Tan, Secretary-General of the Singapore Esports Association, praised the event for integrating esports and education.

Panupong Ongkhunarak, Secretary-General of the Thailand Esports Federation, highlighted the potential of CLSF6I to elevate esports to the level of traditional sports. He noted that the tournament would serve as a breeding ground for new esports talent to represent their countries.

Country qualifiers for CLSF6I will run from July to September 2024, followed by two Last Chance qualifiers open to all Southeast Asian collegiate students. The event will culminate in a grand live final on 26 October 2024, at a venue to be announced.
