Deck-Building RTS Warcana Launches Mid-August

The realm of real-time strategy games is about to get a fresh addition with the upcoming release of Warcana by 1000 Orks, published by Team17. This game promises to deliver an exciting twist to the base defence subgenre, blending it seamlessly with deck-building mechanics.

Set in a captivating fantasy world, Warcana challenges players to take on the role of a magician tasked with defending against relentless enemy attacks while building an army to launch counteroffensives. The game’s central feature is its single-player campaign, designed to provide a thrilling and distinctive RTS experience. However, the game also offers a unique multiplayer aspect, described as a “battle royale of sorts,” allowing up to 30 players to compete simultaneously. With each card featuring its own tech tree, players can expect a wide variety of strategic builds, especially when diving into the online mode.

For those who prefer to immerse themselves in solo gameplay, Warcana offers a robust single-player campaign with over 30 scenarios. Additionally, the game includes an in-game level editor, empowering players to craft their own scenarios. While it’s yet to be seen how all these features will integrate, the developers have confirmed Steam Workshop support, promising a wealth of player-generated content.

Release & Details

Warcana is set to launch on 15 August, exclusively on Steam, with no other PC platforms announced at this time. Ahead of its release, a demo is available from 23 July, offering players a sneak peek into the game. This demo includes access to brand-new features and game modes such as Battle Royale, Stream Sniper, Deckbuilding, and Smite Ability.

Players can explore the 30-player Battle Royale mode, with the Stream Sniper feature adding special conditions and modifiers for enhanced gameplay. The demo also introduces new devotions to the deck-builder, making it the perfect opportunity to get acquainted with this innovative game before its official release.

With its unique blend of RTS and deck-building elements, Warcana is poised to make a significant impact on the gaming scene. Don’t miss the chance to try the demo and experience what this exciting title has to offer!
