James Gunn’s Superman Movie Officially Wraps Up Filming

The Superman movie began production earlier this year and now, it has finally finished filming. To commemorate that milestone, DC Studios boss and Superman director James Gunn posted a special behind-the-scenes photo and message (via Instagram).

His statement reads:

“And that’s a wrap.

God bless our cast and crew whose commitment, creativity, and hard work have brought this project to life. I set out to make a movie about a good man in a world that isn’t always so much. And the goodness and kindness and love I’ve encountered on a daily basis on the set has inspired me and thrust me forward when I felt too spent to move on my own.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. It has been an honor. The destination has been Superman, but the journey has been the toil and the laughter and the emotions and ideas and magic we’ve shared together on set – and for that I am forever grateful.”

Superman stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Nathan Fillion (Green Lantern/Guy Gardner), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane), David Corenswet (Superman / Clark Kent), Milly Alcock, (Kara Zor-El/Supergirl), Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as archaeologist Rex Mason AKA Metamorpho, and more.

Superman is slated to premiere on 11 July 2025. Superman will be the first movie in the newly rebooted DCU or DC Universe. You can read more about that in detail by heading over here for my previous coverage.

Recently at SDCC 2024, Gunn also unveiled the official logo for DC Studios and the new DCU (full story here).
