Next RGG Studio Game To Be Announced At Tokyo Game Show 2024

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, known for its renowned Like A Dragon series, is gearing up to unveil its next game at the Tokyo Game Show 2024 (TGS). It was brought to light by VGC, that during a recent livestream, the studio announced that the game would be revealed in September at TGS, although specific details about the game or its franchise remain under wraps.
Earlier this month, at the Essence of Fandom event during Anime Expo, Ryu Ga Gotoku teased its upcoming title, hinting that fans would be “surprised” by what they have in store. While some attendees speculated that the tease was related to the Like A Dragon series, others believe it could be a new instalment in the Judgement series.
While there’s little information on what the new game could possibly be, that hasn’t stopped Reddit users from speculating. Many believe that the upcoming title could be a sequel to 2021’s Lost Judgement. The Judgement series, a spin-off of the Like A Dragon franchise, follows private detective Takayuki Yagami as he tackles complex criminal cases on the gritty streets of Kamurocho. Known for its blend of investigative gameplay and intense action, the series has been praised for its gripping narrative and dynamic combat system.
The Tokyo Game Show 2024 will be held at the Makuhari Messe in Mihama-ku, Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture, from 26 September to 29 September. The event is expected to attract around 250,000 visitors.
The most recent addition to the Like A Dragon franchise, Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth, launched earlier this year to critical acclaim. While the series initially focused on action gameplay, it has transitioned to a turn-based RPG format following its rebranding from Yakuza to Like A Dragon in Western markets.
Additionally, fans of the franchise can look forward to a live-action adaptation of Like a Dragon: Yakuza, coming to Amazon Prime Video. The series will feature six episodes, with the first three episodes debuting on 25 October and the final three on 1 November.
