Shadows Of The Damned Remastered Shoots Up A Release Date

Grasshopper Manufacture will be releasing its revved-up version of its third-person horror action shooter Shadows of the Damned later this Halloween.

The upcoming action game will be out for PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC (Steam), and Nintendo Switch. The game pits you in the shoes of one Garcia “F***ing” Hotspur who has to rescue his girlfriend Paula from the bowels of Hell after being kidnapped by the demon lord Fleming. With the help of his flaming skull Johnson, he guns his way through literal Hell and back to rescue his beloved in third-person shooter glory.

This version of the game features remastered graphics (4K & 60fps support) and new costumes to dress Garcia up with, as well as New Game+ mode. The new costumes are:

  • Placa Garcia
  • Ocho Corazones
  • Demonio Garcia
  • Kamikaze Garcia

The PC version specs are as follows:

Requirements
Processor: Intel Core i5-6400 / AMD Ryzen 3 1200
Memory: 8GB
Graphics: GeForce GTX 650 Ti 2GB / AMD Radeon RX 460
Storage: At least 5GB
Recommended
Processor: Inter Core i5-6700 / AMD Ryzen 5 1500X
Memory: 16GB
Graphics: GeForce GTX 960 Ti 2GB / AMD Radeon R9 380X
Storage: At least 5GB

But Didn’t EA Publish This Game Prior?

As you have noticed in the trailer below , this version of the game is published by Netease Entertainment Interactive. Originally out in 2011 for PS3 and Xbox 360, the game was published by EA. The game didn’t do so hot commercially, though it received critical acclaim. Here’s the gist of it:

  • The original concept for Shadows of the Damned went through a lot of drafts before being accepted by EA and its suits. At the time, EA was led by John Riccitiello at the time; he is known to be a polarizing figure alongside other suits like Bobby Kotick and Andrew Wilson.
  • Without producer Shinji Mikami to help writer Goichi “Suda 51” Suda, EA would have cut more things from Shadows of the Damned.
  • Suda 51 also had to go back and forth to US and Japan due to handling publishers alongside Mikami, thus his creative time with the game was divided.

Fun fact: this experience with EA impacted Suda 51 so much that he created a villain named Damon Riccitiello in the action title No More Heroes 3. No prize for guessing who he is based on.

Shadows Of The Damned will be out on 31st October 2024.
