Black Myth: Wukong Tops Steam Charts Ahead of Release

It seems like Game Science’s upcoming soulslike action game isn’t monkeying around. Black Myth: Wukong has already secured the second spot on Steam’s “Top Seller” charts, surpassing popular titles such as PUBG: Battleground, The First Descendant, and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.

Pre-orders for the game have been available since 8 June, and according to SteamDB, Black Myth: Wukong has amassed an impressive following of 598,472 users, earning it the number one spot on Steam’s Wishlist chart. Meaning more than half a million players have pre-ordered the game on Steam, just a week away before its worldwide launched.

With the release of stunning trailers, the game has captured the attention of many gamers, establishing itself as one of the most anticipated soulslike games of 2024. This achievement is especially notable given the recently released competition from other titles such as Hades 2 and Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.

Rooted in Chinese mythology, Black Myth: Wukong is an action RPG based on the classic Chinese novel “Journey to the West.” Players will assume the role of the Destined One, embarking on a journey filled with challenges and wonders, seeking to uncover the hidden truths behind a legendary tale from the past.

Black Myth: Wukong will launch for the PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC on 20 August 2024.
