Fatal Fury: City Of The Wolves Gets Release Date, RPG Mode, & Mai Shiranui With Two Fanservice Outfits

SNK has dropped a bunch of new gameplay & reveal trailers for its upcoming 2D fighting game Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, during the period when Gamescom ONL started showcasing their gaming announcements.

First up, Mai Shiranui is going to be in the base roster of the game. She sports a new biker outfit as well as her classic ninja outfit. Both have her funbags out on display, so fans can rejoice and not resort to “No Mai, No Buy” shenanigans. She retains most of her Shiranui ninjutsu fighting style techniques: fire, flying fans, and fast rushdown movement.

Next up, SNK also released an official features trailer and overview of the game. The new trailer showcases the REV System, the roster number, and the game’s new single-player RPG mode. Let’s talk about the latter mode:

  • The new mode is called Episodes of South Town, or EOST.
  • You can choose different characters to play as and complete different missions, objectives, and minigames. You will be levelling them up and customizing them with new custom paint jobs.
  • The game requires you to connect to the internet and update the game, hinting that this may be either a mode that isn’t available at launch or just has new content coming in periodically.

In addition, the game’s roster will feature 22 characters at launch. 17 of them will be familiar faces, while the remaining 5 are brand-new to the game. The game’s Season Pass 1 DLC, a standard in fighting games post-content these days, will add 5 new characters post-launch. So yes, there’s a chance we’ll see some long-overdue returning characters like maybe Xiangfei, Rick Strowd, or even Raiden/Big Bear.

Last but not least, the game has a release date. Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves will be out on 24th April 2025 for PC, Xbox Series, PS5, and PS4. If you buy the Special Edition of the game, you get 3-days early access so you’ll get to fight in South Town once more in 21st April instead.

Rejoice, Fatal Fury and SNK fighting game fans: the legend of the hungry wolves is coming back!
