Roblox Is Banned In Turkey, This Is Why
By Alleef AshaariVerified|August 8, 2024|0 Comment
Roblox players in Turkey AKA Turkiye have been blocked access to the game by the Turkish government.
Why? Because of child exploitation concerns.
The Turkish government believes that Roblox is exploiting children with illegitimate practices.
A statement by a Turkish Directorate Of Communications official reads (via Dexerto):
“Roblox ban was primarily motivated by reports of inappropriate sexual content on the platform, which was perceived as exploiting children.”
According to Turkish media, Roblox apparently hosted virtual parties promoting paedophilia and that the platform’s virtual currency (called Robux) is being distributed by bot accounts to promote gambling sites and their predatory tactics.
Roblox has issued a statement to BBC, which said:
“We are aware that Roblox is currently unavailable in Turkey and we have contacted the relevant authorities to find out why and ensure we are back online as soon as possible.”
This current ban affects all users of Roblox in Turkey/Turkiye, including content creators whose main game is Roblox.
It remains to be seen when this situation will be resolved.
