Star Wars Outlaws Guide: Tips To Make You A Better Scoundrel
By Alleef AshaariVerified|August 30, 2024|0 Comment
Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment’s Star Wars Outlaws will launch for the PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC on 30 August, but early access players (those who bought the Ultimate and Gold editions of the game) can already play the game early.
For my spoiler-free review of Star Wars Outlaws, head on over here.
Before you delve into the Star Wars Underworld, here are some tips and tricks:
There are plenty of accessibility options in Star Wars Outlaws that are hidden in the settings. A lot of them can be tweaked to make the game much more enjoyable and less of a chore.
This depends on your preference but if you’re sick of having to manually complete the lockpicking and slicing minigame puzzles every single time, you can actually just turn them off so that they auto-complete every time. It doesn’t affect the game in any other way, saves time and allows you to enjoy the rest of the game more.
Just go to Settings in the pause menu and go to Gameplay. There are a bunch of settings here that can make the game more fun, including turning off many of the QTEs associated with many of the minigames, including Sabacc and the Galactic Street Food challenges.
There were a lot of times when I got confused about where to go or how to progress or how to solve a certain obstacle. Sometimes, it isn’t clear what you’re supposed to do, but when in doubt, the solution is usually the simplest: Nix.
When you’re stuck, just use Nix vision (by pressing and holding L1 on PS5) to see if there’s a hidden panel or vent that Nix can reach or help open. It’s easy to miss these if you ignore Nix.
In Star Wars Outlaws, Kay Vess doesn’t level up normally or gain EXP like in the recent Assassin’s Creed or Far Cry games. Instead, she learns new abilities and skills by accomplishing certain tasks given by Experts. To obtain these Experts in the first place, you’ll need to complete their quests under the Expert Intel tab under Journal in the menu. This is basically the game’s version of a skill tree or upgrade tree.
In fact, I recommend that you should prioritize these Expert Intel quests whenever you find a new one because they’re the quests most worth doing in order to gain new abilities and improve Kay Vess.
In Star Wars Outlaws, you’ll be doing a lot of infiltration and sneaking into buildings/rooms. Sometimes, it’s not clear how exactly you can get past all the guards and enemies, but the level designers at Massive Entertainment have an easy solution for these situations; there’s always a vent somewhere. Use Nix vision to make it easier to spot one.
The first time that you go to planets, sure, you’ll have to fly there manually by using hyperspace and landing from orbit.
However, what the game doesn’t tell you is that once you’ve unlocked fast travel points on that planet, you can just fast travel there by using the Map in the menu. It’s a bit cumbersome because you have to go into the map and press L2 to access all the Fast Travel Points you’ve unlocked on every planet.
