XDefiant’s Ranked Update Polishes Competitive Play
By Lewis Larcombe|August 1, 2024|0 Comment
XDefiant’s ranked mode is still in its early stages, and Ubisoft is diligently refining it based on player feedback. The latest update brings essential improvements that competitive players will appreciate.
One major issue has been the unfair advantage caused by players leaving matches, leaving their teammates to face four enemies alone. This often resulted in easy wins for the opposing team. To address this, XDefiant’s ranked mode now includes changes to ensure players take the mode seriously or avoid queuing altogether.
The new XDefiant patch 1.3 introduces several buffs for shotguns and finally nerfs the frustrating Spiderbot. Historically, the 4v4 ranked mode did not account for players leaving during matches. However, with patch 1.3, games will not start if a player leaves during the waiting period, returning all players to the main menu to restart the queue. This ensures that ranked matches only proceed with a full roster of eight players.

Leaving a ranked game now carries a steeper penalty. The ranked points loss penalty has increased from 40RP to 50RP in the new patch. Additionally, players can no longer leave during the voting phase, as the leave button has been removed.
Future updates will introduce even harsher penalties for those who leave after a game has started. While this system is not yet live, XDefiant has announced that leavers will face reduced ranked points or a matchmaking ban. The development team is fine-tuning this feature to ensure players who disconnect accidentally are not unfairly penalized, with the update expected to roll out soon.
Ubisoft’s ongoing efforts to improve XDefiant’s ranked mode highlight their commitment to creating a fair and competitive environment for all players.
