Did Sony Tease The PS5 Pro In Its 30th Anniversary Logo?
By Lewis LarcombeVerified|September 6, 2024|0 Comment
It seems like Sony may have teased the PlayStation 5 Pro in their 30th-anniversary logo. Speculation around the unannounced console began last week when reliable leaker billbil-kun, known for accurately sharing upcoming game and hardware details, hinted at the PS5 Pro’s imminent announcement—expected sometime in early September on French outlet, Dealabs.
Although billbil-kun couldn’t share copyrighted images, they provided a sketch of the PS5 Pro’s packaging design. The key difference? Three black stripes running across the middle of the console, setting it apart from the current PS5 models.
Fast forward to today, and Sony’s anniversary logo appears to show a mysterious console between the PlayStation logo and the “30,” which closely resembles the PS5 but with distinct lines across the middle—much like billbil-kun’s description. With the PS5 Slim also in the image, it’s less likely that this mystery console is just a creative representation of an existing model. It could indeed be the PS5 Pro.
Interestingly, billbil-kun’s report suggests that while the PS5 Pro seems slightly thicker than the Slim, it might still be compatible with existing PS5 Slim faceplates. One aspect still up in the air is whether the PS5 Pro will include a disc drive, as the leaked image shows a version without one. This raises the possibility of two PS5 Pro models—one with a disc drive, and one digital-only, much like the PS5 Slim’s approach with an optional add-on drive. Alternatively, Sony may opt for a disc-less model to cut costs.
With all these clues aligning, fans might be closer than ever to seeing the PS5 Pro officially unveiled.
